The Nelson Necklace is a signature handmade piece from the Sorrel & Trace botanical collection. Nelson is a solid sterling silver pendant with contrasting patinas. Shown with a 17" chain.
This piece is patinated to create a colour contrast and then sealed. The sealer goes a long way towards protecting the patina, but over time the piece will age and respond to wear, creating a patina that is unique to you. Over time the darkened areas look more like wood, and bright silver can be exposed on high-wear areas. These transformations are part of what make these works unique, but if you want the blackened areas to stay a deep, glossy black, these pieces are probably not for you.
In many cases I am happy to refresh a patina free-of-charge, though shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer. It is also possible to re-blacken the silver yourself should you wish. Do an internet search for "egg yolk silver patina" for instructions. Keep in mind that you'll have to carefully re-polish any areas that you'd like to remain bright silver, and you may have to go through the sealer to do so.
